How to Compare Nattokinase Supplements

Nattokinase labels can look surprisingly similar.  They aren't necessarily equivalent.

A better comparison looks at the supplement as a system:

Nattokinase supplement comparison six-stage framework

1. Look for FU, not milligrams alone

Nattokinase is an enzyme, and FU (fibrinolytic units) express measured enzyme activity. Milligrams tell you how much the nattokinase weighs.

2. Check the serving

A large FU number on the front of a bottle may represent one capsule, two capsules or the entire bottle.

Always determine:

Is the stated activity per capsule or per serving?

3. Look at dose density

Dose density = how much measured enzyme activity is specified in each capsule.

PB Natto is provisionally specified at:

13,500 FU in one capsule.

That does not mean higher dose density automatically produces better clinical outcomes.

Its practical significance is simpler:

  • high measured activity in one capsule

  • fewer capsules

  • simpler serving architecture

4. Examine delivery

Research shows nattokinase activity is reduced or degraded under gastric conditions.

That makes the delivery architecture worth examining.

Compare conventional delivery with acid-resistant or delayed-release approaches.

PB Natto uses acid-resistant delivery because PBE considered gastric protection part of the enzyme formulation problem.

5. Ask what was actually tested

“Third-party tested” sounds impressive.

But the important question is:

Tested for what?

Testing can refer to very different things:

6. Separate raw-material documentation from finished-product verification

This distinction is worth remembering:

A raw-material COA tells you what entered production. Finished-product testing tells you what came out.

Raw material COA vs finished-product testing comparison

PB Natto's production process includes finished-product activity verification.

7. Put human research in context

A study dose provides evidence context.

Matching the same FU number does not automatically reproduce the study outcome.

8. Compare price last

Price matters.

But compare it after you understand the product.

Activity. Dose density. Delivery. Verification. Convenience. Then value.

Final insight

The smartest nattokinase comparison is not “Which bottle has the biggest number?” It is “What activity am I getting, how is it delivered, and what was actually verified?”

Those are the same questions PBE asked while developing PB Natto.
